Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić has praised Georgia's recent economic performance, highlighting the country's 9.3% economic growth in the first quarter and describing it as one of the strongest results in Europe.
Speaking alongside Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze in Tbilisi on Tuesday, Vučić said Serbia closely followed Georgia's economic development and sought to learn from its experience.
"Everyone in Serbia knows that Georgia's economic growth in the first quarter was 9.3%. We know there is nothing comparable in Europe, and we are proud of your achievement," Vučić said.
The Serbian president also pointed to growth in Georgia's construction and tourism sectors, saying the country's development offered valuable lessons for Serbia.
Vučić described Georgia's progress since 2012 as "remarkable" and said Serbia recognises the country's achievements in economic development, sovereignty and territorial integrity.
He noted that this was the first visit to Georgia by a Serbian president and said the two countries shared close ties rooted in Orthodox Christian traditions and longstanding friendship.
The Serbian leader also praised Georgia's efforts to protect its national interests, saying many countries were closely observing the country's approach to issues of sovereignty and state development.
Vučić thanked Georgia for its hospitality and expressed confidence that closer cooperation between the two countries would continue to grow following his visit.
