Zelenskyy: Russia Responded to US Diplomacy With Shahed Drones and Will Be Held Accountable

Russia carried out strikes on airports in Kyiv and Boryspil overnight, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.

“Last night, Russia launched demonstrative strikes on our airports — in Kyiv and Boryspil. They were targeted for the first time in a long while. It is clear that these Russian strikes on the airports are a response to discussions and preparations by the U.S. side regarding the possibility of using aircraft to travel to Ukraine and land at airports in Kyiv or Boryspil,” Zelenskyy said.

The Ukrainian president said Russia had responded to U.S. diplomatic efforts with Shahed drones.

“We have taken note of this Russian move, and next week we will adjust our operations regarding Russian airspace accordingly, as it has become dangerous due to the presence of drones and missiles in the skies.

“Of course, there is no threat to diplomacy from our side, nor will there be. Ukraine is interested in achieving peace. Russia will be held accountable for its actions. Thank you to everyone who supports our country and the Ukrainian people,” Zelenskyy said.
