Two children were killed in a fire that broke out late at night on Bukia Street, in Zugdidi, western Georgia. The blaze occurred on the sixth floor of a multi-storey building.

According to the Emergency Situations Management Service, the fire-rescue team responded quickly, but they found two minors dead at the scene. However, they managed to rescue two other children, who were taken to a clinic. Their lives are reportedly not in danger.

The emergency management service claimed the fire was contained in time, preventing it from spreading to other floors.

Neighbors believe the children were likely alone and asleep when the fire started, as their parents were not at home at the time of the incident.

The cause of the fire remains unknown, and an investigation is currently underway.
