Zurab "Girchi" Japaridze, one of the leaders of the Coalition for Change, has been taken to hospital after being struck by a car while travelling on a scooter, according to his party.

The accident occurred shortly before the party announced the incident.

Japaridze is undergoing medical examinations at Mediclubi Hospital.

According to the Coalition for Change, the opposition politician sustained minor injuries.

“I’m doing well. I have no fractures, only bruises. I have a concussion and I don’t remember some things. I’m in hospital undergoing examinations,” Japaridze wrote on social media.

He said police were investigating the incident and would obtain CCTV footage.

“I don’t remember where it happened, who was involved or what exactly happened there yet,” he wrote.

Japaridze added: “P.S. I can still tell good from evil.”
