Protests continue in front of Georgian Parliament building

Demonstrations continue outside the Georgian Parliament on Rustaveli Avenue, where citizens gather daily for over a month.

Protesters have blocked the main road, chanting “Georgia, Georgia!” and demanding two key actions: releasing those detained during earlier protests and scheduling new parliamentary elections.

Today marks the 35th consecutive day of demonstrations. Before the roadblock, police had formed a live cordon to control the situation near Parliament.

The protests were sparked by the ruling Georgian Dream party’s controversial decision on November 28 to delay discussions on opening EU accession talks until the end of 2028. This decision has fueled widespread public discontent, leading to calls for stronger alignment with European aspirations.
