Georgian Deputy Interior Minister holds migration talks with regional counterparts

Georgia’s Deputy Interior Minister Aleksandre Darakhvelidze has held a series of bilateral meetings with foreign officials during the second International Migration Review Forum.
Darakhvelidze met with Armenia’s Deputy Interior Minister Armen Ghazaryan, Kyrgyzstan’s Deputy Minister of Labour, Social Security and Migration Mirlanbek Baigonchokov, Head of Azerbaijan’s State Migration Service Vusal Huseynov and Serbia’s Commissioner for Refugees and Migration Natasa Stanisavljevic.
The discussions focused on existing cooperation in the field of migration and on future initiatives aimed at expanding relations between the countries.
Darakhvelidze highlighted measures introduced by Georgia’s Interior Ministry to combat illegal migration, as well as recent legislative amendments designed to strengthen asylum and expulsion procedures.
He said the changes had increased the country’s capacity to manage migration flows more effectively.
The parties also discussed prospects for future cooperation, including the exchange of experience and best practices in migration management.
