Romanian carrier Dan Air will begin operating direct flights between Bucharest and Tbilisi next month, adding another European airline to Georgia’s aviation market.
According to Aleksandre Gachechiladze, Deputy Director of Georgia’s Civil Aviation Agency, regular air traffic between the capitals of Georgia and Romania will resume after a multi-year pause, with flights operating twice a week.
“Dan Air will become the 17th European airline operating flights to Georgia, while the Bucharest-Tbilisi route will be the 42nd air connection served from the country,” Gachechiladze said.
He noted that there are currently 160 weekly flight frequencies between Georgia and Europe, with European airlines accounting for 35 per cent of Georgia’s aviation market.
“The figures clearly demonstrate that air connectivity between Georgia and Europe continues to grow steadily year after year,” he added.
