Jailed ex-PM Garibashvili's brother-in-law mocks bribery case with claim of 'rooms' handed over as bribe

Jailed former Georgian prime minister Irakli Garibashvili's brother-in-law, Aleksandre Tamazashvili, has mocked the new bribery case against him, sarcastically suggesting that "several rooms" of a Tskneti villa may have been handed to Garibashvili as a bribe by former defence minister Juansher Burchuladze.

Tamazashvili made the remark after publishing what he described as a Public Registry extract showing that, in 2023, businessman Zurab Tukvadze transferred a villa in Tskneti to Vasili Mkheidze, Burchuladze's brother-in-law. The prosecution says the alleged bribery scheme took place during the same period.

"As the Prosecutor's Office claims, the crime took place in 2023, while part of the money transferred by witness Zurab Tukvadze was handed over to Irakli in several installments," Tamazashvili wrote.

"This is a Public Registry extract confirming that in the same 2023, witness Tukvadze transferred a villa in Tskneti to Vasili Mkheidze, Burchuladze's brother-in-law."

"Presumably, several rooms of this house were brought and handed over to Irakli as a bribe by Juansher Burchuladze," he added.
