Construction has begun on a modern shelter complex for stray dogs in Georgia’s Black Sea resort city of Batumi, in the Chakvi settlement area.
The project covers an area of nearly 27,000 square metres and envisages the construction of two identical blocks designed in the shape of a paw. The shelter will include 180 individual kennels, all equipped with water supply and drainage systems.
A central inner courtyard will be arranged for walking and exercising the dogs. In addition, the complex will feature eight auxiliary buildings, including veterinary, administrative, quarantine, kitchen, grooming and dog hotel units. A dedicated training and exercise area for dogs is also planned within the territory.
According to the contract, construction works are scheduled to be completed by December 10. The total cost of the project is estimated at up to ₾9 million ($3.35mln).
