David Matikashvili, Chair of the Procedural Issues Committee of the Georgian Parliament, on Saturday pledged to put an end to what he called “lies” propagated by non-governmental organisations regarding alleged election fraud and breaches of voting secrecy.

“The falsehoods spread by these NGOs have very short legs. Much of the lawsuit filed by Georgian Young Lawyers Association and others against their own country has already been dismissed, and the court has rejected further consideration. For the parts of the claim still under review, the court has raised more questions about the plaintiffs than about the defendants,” Matikashvili said.

“This lie, propagated repeatedly both inside and outside Georgia, will be definitively exposed. It will become clear to the public once and for all that this anti-Georgian campaign, like what ISFED attempted in 2020 and what Georgian Young Lawyers Association is attempting today, will end in Georgia’s victory,” he added.

The statement came in response to claims by Georgian Young Lawyers Association that requests it had submitted were denied. According to Matikashvili, these reports are untrue and do not reflect reality.
