Georgia’s government will continue funding students during the transition period of an ongoing education reform, the Georgian Dream ruling party MP, Davit Matikashvili, said on Thursday.

Matikashvili said the government had decided to introduce legislative amendments to ensure students continue receiving financial support under the existing system while reforms are implemented.

He described the changes as part of what he called a “major educational reform” and said the decision was aimed at protecting students from financial difficulties and preventing disruptions to their studies.

“The authorities have decided to amend the law so that students will continue to receive funding during the transitional period in the same way as before,” Matikashvili said.

He claimed the measure is intended to help young people continue their education and access to knowledge without interruption during the reform process.
