Georgian former official David Zurabishvili said the current opposition spectrum would be unable to defeat or replace the government unless a new leader emerged.

In a post on social media, Zurabishvili described what he called a “paradox of Georgian politics,” arguing that the existing opposition lacked the capacity to remove the current authorities either through elections, revolution, or overthrow.

At the same time, he wrote that the government’s own actions could ultimately lead to its defeat and replacement - whether through elections or other means.

“In the end, the key question is which side prevails,” Zurabishvili said.

In a postscript, he added that he had always supported political change and therefore, in this “competition,” he supported the government’s defeat.
