Ambassador Degnan:US defence secretary’s visit reaffirms America's close cooperation with Georgia

US Ambassador to Georgia Kelly Degnan says that today’s visit of the US Defence Secretary Lloyd J. Austin to Georgia ‘is a sign of the continued close cooperation between the United States and Georgia.’

“ Our security cooperation continues—it’s one of the topics we will discuss during the meetings later today—what more the United States and Georgia can do together to increase Georgia’s security and stability.  So, we are thrilled to have Secretary Austin here, and we look forward to a very full and productive day,” Degnan has tweeted.

Austin arrived in Georgia earlier today.

The US department of defence announced last week that during his meetings with Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili and Defence Minister Juansher Burchuladze, Austin will stress the importance of the US-Georgia strategic partnership and will address regional and global security challenges.

Austin is also scheduled to visit Ukraine, Romania and Brussels.
