Ombudswoman to PM on Ukraine: ‘just stop talking’

Georgian ombudswoman Nino Lomjaria has responded to the statements being made by the country’s PM Irakli Garibashvili over Ukraine, requesting the latter to be silent.

Garibashvili stated earlier today that ‘no one is able to stop war in Ukraine’ and that ‘sanctions are ineffective.’

“Irakli (Garibashvili) I will explain simply. No one tells you to be Zelensky. Just do not speak. Do not make us feel ashamed. Sanctions work! Vaccines also work! (Garibashvili said earlier that the coronavirus vaccine is not effective against the Omicron strain of coronavirus),” Lomjaria wrote.

Thousands have taken to the streets in Georgia in recent days to protest Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, as well as the statements by Garibashvili that Georgia will not join sanctions against Russia and that he would not attend an extraordinary session in parliament over Ukraine.

Garibashvili, however, says that the Georgian government has sent humanitarian aid to Ukraine and stood by the country on the international arena, Ombudswoman to PM on Ukraine: ‘just stop talking’
