Georgian Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Levan Davitashvili stated today that the price of fuel is expected to go down soon in the country thanks to newly signed contracts. 

The minister has not specified with whom the contacts had been signed. 

"Our expectan is that the price of fuel will fall. The basis for this is newly signed contracts which are at lower prices. The fuel has not entered Georgia so far. We also have a dialogue with the private sector so that no one can take advantage of the current  situation,” Davitashvili said. 

The cost for one liter oil has hit four GEL and more in Georgia, pushing people in Tbilisi to take to the street. 

About 30 individuals were arrested at the rally protesting fuel prices earlier this month. 

The Georgian Dream government claimed that the United National Movement opposition party stood behind the protests, the allegations which the opposition dismissed.
