Ruling party “lies” over PACE resolution - opposition MP

Khatia Dekanoidze, an MP of the United National Movement opposition party, said on Monday that the ruling Georgian Dream party “is lying” when it said that they did not vote for the Parliamentary Assembly of the Counmcl of Eyrope recent resolution, which called Russia a”terrorist state” that the same resolsution also dubbed arrested former President Mikheil Saakashvili as a political prsisoner. 

Dekanoidze saii that the GD could support the resolution without the fourth amendment about Saakashvili. 

“The regulation of the Council of Europe provides that it is possible to support the resolution without a specific amendment, and this resolution is very significant, because unfortunately, under the conditions of the current Georgian authorities, it can become another obstacle for Georgia’s EU membership candidate status", says Khatia Dekanoidze.

In the resolution adopted by the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) on October 13, which implies the declaration of Russia as a terrorist state, the third president of Georgia, Saakashvili, is reported as a prisoner of [Russian Presidfent Vladimir] Putin. 

The GD said that the ammendemet, which was supported by 56 MPs, was “sneaked” on the passive day of the assembly.
