Georgia to buy homes for nearly 300 displaced families

Georgia's Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) Agency will purchase homes for nearly 300 internally displaced families across the country under its housing programme, the agency said on Tuesday.

The agency said the list of families approved for housing assistance by the commission responsible for reviewing IDP resettlement applications had been published on its website.

Approved families have six months to select a home in any region of Georgia and submit the property for purchase by the agency.

The programme, under which the state buys homes for internally displaced families alongside the construction of new residential complexes, has expanded significantly in recent years, the agency said.

According to the agency, it has already purchased homes for 1,640 internally displaced families so far this year and plans to continue expanding housing support for displaced households.
