UK sanctions vessel linked to Russia's ‘shadow fleet’ that visited Georgian port

The United Kingdom has announced a new package of sanctions targeting Russia's so-called "shadow fleet", military procurement networks and financial channels used to circumvent international restrictions, according to the British Embassy in Georgia on Tuesday.

The measures included sanctions against the vessel SILVAR, which the embassy said visited a Georgian port earlier this year.

In a statement published on social media, the embassy said the latest sanctions package targeted ageing vessels used by Russia to transport oil and other goods outside established sanctions regimes, as well as supply chains supporting military procurement and financial networks involved in sanctions evasion.
