Representatives of European University, together with rectors of universities that are members of the Standing Conference of Rectors of Georgian Higher Education Institutions and Deputy Minister of Education, Science and Youth Zviad Gabisonia, paid tribute to the fallen heroes of the August War at the Mukhatgverdi Brothers’ Cemetery, marking the 18th anniversary of the Russia-Georgia War.
Eighteen years have passed since the August 2008 Russia-Georgia War. The five-day conflict claimed the lives of more than 400 people, including 170 military personnel, 19 employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and 244 civilians.
A total of 2,234 people were wounded, while approximately 26,000 were displaced from their homes.
