Georgian director Giorgi Markozashvili’s feature film “The Burrow” has won at the Triborough Film Festival.
The Triborough Film Festival awards ceremony was held on June 7 in New York. Giorgi Markozashvili’s feature film “The Burrow” was nominated in three categories at the festival and won in the Best Thriller Film category.
The festival in New York was attended by one of the film’s lead actors, Niko Kankia, Georgian director Giorgi Tkemaladze, and Cannes Film Festival delegate Gvantsa Mkheidze.
“The Burrow” is Markozashvili’s first feature-length film. Its premiere took place on April 24, 2025, in Stockholm, Sweden. The plot centers on a young woman who is set to appear in court as a witness. The witness protection service is forced to temporarily hide her in order to protect her life from danger.
The film stars Otar Mikeladze, Data Gogiashvili, Lika Giorgobiani, Davit Tkebuchava, and Niko Kankia in the leading roles.
It is noteworthy that “The Burrow” has also won awards at festivals in Sweden, India, France, and Japan.
