Political analyst Gia Khukhashvili has called on Georgian citizens to treat the upcoming local government elections as a critical moment of resistance, framing participation at the polls as a form of political battle against the ruling authorities.

Speaking on the importance of Election Day, Khukhashvili emphasized that voting represented a rare opportunity for citizens to reclaim power and hold the government to account.

“Election Day is the day when power – the right to vote – returns to the people,” he said. “This is a battlefield. I’m not saying the outcome is guaranteed, but it’s a day when society must fight – a day when the government cannot declare a coup d’état.”

Khukhashvili urged voters to remain vigilant and prevent election fraud at the precinct level. “Let’s not allow a single falsified protocol to come out of a polling station,” he said. “Even if we fight and lose, the government will eventually be buried.”

He warned against apathy or acceptance of the process, saying that viewing participation through a purely logical or cynical carried risks legitimizing an unpopular administration. “If people participate just to play along with the system, they help legitimize the government,” Khukhashvili said. “This government doesn’t have a pulse in Tbilisi. Their only chance of winning is to sit down and falsify the protocols – and we must not give them that opportunity.”
