Opposition leader Giga Bokeria has said Georgia needs a government capable of clearly communicating to strategic partners why the country’s security, freedom and territorial integrity were both morally and pragmatically important.
Speaking after a meeting between representatives of the opposition alliance and a senior official from the United States Department of State, Bokeria argued that Georgia’s national interests required a government focused on serving citizens rather than protecting the power and financial interests of ruling party founder Bidzina Ivanishvili.
According to Bokeria, the current Georgian Dream government is unable to effectively represent Georgia’s interests internationally or build the necessary understanding among strategic partners.
He added that the opposition could not remain passive, including on the international stage, in response to what he described as failures by the ruling authorities.
