The United National Movement (UNM) has accused Georgia’s ruling party of pursuing “collaborative and pro-Russian” policies after a memorial to Georgians killed fighting against Russia in Ukraine was vandalised in Tbilisi.

Speaking at Heroes Square on Thursday, UNM political secretary Giorgi Baramidze said the desecration of photographs of fallen Georgian fighters was “another clear manifestation” of what he described as Bidzina Ivanishvili’s “treacherous, Russia-appeasing politics.”

Baramidze condemned the act as “barbaric” and expressed confidence that those responsible would face justice.
