Chairman of the Georgian Parliament’s Culture Committee and head of the society Kartuli, Giorgi Gabunia, has accused certain 'radical political forces and bureaucrats in Europe' of attempting to pressure the Georgian government into taking steps that go against the country’s national interests.

Gabunia was responding to a recent statement made by Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on behalf of the ruling party’s political council, in which he warned of efforts to drag Georgia into the ongoing war in Ukraine.

“We are witnessing a daily human tragedy in Ukraine, where civilians are dying. Against this backdrop, there has been a persistent and harmful effort to open a second front in Georgia,” Gabunia said.

He claimed that certain 'radical European politicians and bureaucrats', who frequently issue aggressive statements toward Georgia, are actively trying to push the government toward decisions that do not align with the country’s national priorities.

“This pressure aims to force Georgia into actions that contradict our national interests,” Gabunia stated.
