Giorgi Margvelashvili, the fourth President of Georgia, has called for mass gatherings to challenge what he describes as an unjust seizure of power in the country. In his statement, Margvelashvili declared that he represents a political front uniting the majority of Georgian citizens and voters whose will was disregarded due to what he claims was a Moscow-led special operation.

He emphasized the significance of collective action to prevent what he described as a “farce” and a ritualistic transfer of power by a group claiming an unearned mandate to govern. “This must be achieved through large-scale, mass gatherings of people who will not allow this farce to proceed,” he stated.

Margvelashvili also linked the current situation to Georgia’s historical struggles, referencing February 25 as a symbolic date marking the imposition of an occupational regime in the country. He outlined two key political objectives: ensuring that no opposition forces participate in parliamentary activities and leaving the ruling Georgian Dream party isolated. The second goal, he said, is to prevent those in power from holding sessions that reinforce their grip on authority.
