Former National Bank President warns of impending political and economic crises in Georgia

Giorgi Kadagidze, former president of the National Bank of Georgia, has warned that the government is facing imminent crises—both political and economic—that could intensify in the near future. In a recent statement, Kadagidze emphasized the need for increased pressure on the government to initiate change.

“We must understand that to dismantle the regime, two critical components need to be addressed: external pressure in terms of non-recognition, as we have a government that is not acknowledged by anyone in the democratic world, and managing an unrecognized one-party state is extremely difficult. On the other hand, internal pressure is necessary—parliament must not convene, and it must not function. We all need to mobilize during those pivotal days when it is most needed,” Kadagidze stated.

He asserted that the current situation calls for collective action to ensure that the government does not escape accountability. Kadagidze believes that without significant pushback, the ongoing political crises will worsen, further exacerbating economic challenges facing the country.
