Gogoberishvili stepped down from his post following public outcry over the assault case involving Bachiashvili

The former head of Gldani No. 8 Penitentiary, Davit Gogoberishvili, has been found dead, weeks after resigning in connection with the alleged beating of convicted businessman Giorgi Bachiashvili.

According to reports, Gogoberishvili is believed to have taken his own life. Authorities have launched an investigation under Article 115 of Georgia’s Criminal Code, which pertains to driving a person to suicide.

Gogoberishvili stepped down from his post following public outcry over the assault case involving Bachiashvili, the former head of the Co-Investment Fund and a close associate of former Prime Minister Bidzina Ivanishvili.
