14-year-old girl gives birth in western Georgia, investigation underway

Authorities in the Imereti region have confirmed that a 14-year-old girl has given birth, local news outlet Info Imereti reported.

Due to the minor’s age, officials have not disclosed the name of the municipality where the incident occurred. Information regarding the newborn’s health has also not been released, as it is considered sensitive personal data.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia said that an investigation has been launched under Article 140 of the Criminal Code, which pertains to sexual intercourse or other sexual acts with a person under the age of sixteen.
