A devastating plane crash in Ahmedabad, India, has left nearly all passengers dead — except for one survivor, 40-year-old Vishwash Kumar Ramesh. According to Indian media, Ramesh miraculously survived the crash and described the terrifying moments after takeoff.

"About 30 seconds after takeoff, there was a loud noise, and the plane went down," Ramesh told reporters. "When I stood up, there were bodies all around me. I panicked, got up, and ran. There was wreckage everywhere. Someone grabbed my arm, put me in an ambulance, and took me to the hospital," he recounted.

Ramesh, a British citizen originally from India, had been visiting family and was on his way back to the UK. He has lived in Britain for 20 years. He sustained blunt force injuries to his chest, eyes, and legs, according to local reports.

The crash involved an Air India Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, which went down shortly after takeoff from the Ahmedabad airport, crashing into a residential area. The flight carried 230 passengers: 169 Indian nationals, 53 British, 7 Portuguese, and 1 Canadian citizen.

Earlier, local police reported that all passengers were presumed dead following the crash. Ramesh’s survival has come as a rare glimmer of hope amid the tragedy.
