Georgian Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Irakli Chikovani on Saturday met with Turkey’s Director of Air Force Assessment and Inspection, Lieutenant General Yaşar Kadıoğlu, who arrived in Georgia following the recent crash of a Turkish military aircraft near the Georgia–Azerbaijan border.

Georgia’s Ministry of Defence said the Turkish delegation expressed gratitude to Georgian authorities for their swift response and support during search-and-rescue efforts after the crash.

Kadıoğlu led the Turkish side’s operations in Georgia following the aircraft’s downing, the body added.

Chikovani reiterated condolences over the deaths of service members from the Turkish Air Force, whose military transport aircraft crashed approximately five kilometers from Georgia’s state border on November 11, killing 20 personnel.
