The Tbilisi City Court has set bail of 1 million GEL as a pretrial measure for former Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili, who faces charges of large-scale money laundering.
The decision was announced by Judge Eka Barbakadze on Friday, who fully upheld the Prosecutor’s Office’s motion. Under the ruling, Garibashvili must pay the bail amount within 30 days.
The court also granted the prosecution’s additional requests to confiscate Garibashvili’s passport and to prohibit him from leaving the country.
Garibashvili did not make a statement during the court hearing, limiting himself to a brief remark acknowledging the charge.
The pretrial hearing is scheduled for 16 December.
On 17 October, investigators conducted searches at the residences of Garibashvili, former security chief Grigol Liluashvili, former prosecutor general Otar Partskhaladze, and several other alleged associates. According to the Prosecutor’s Office, the operation resulted in the seizure of electronic devices, documentation, and large sums of cash.
