Georgian ruling party MP Irakli Kadagishvili defended the praise of Georgian Dream founder and honorary chairman Bidzina Ivanishvili, saying his contributions to churches, cultural institutions and universities would endure for generations.
Responding to questions about complimentary social media posts by Georgian Dream members and supporters about Ivanishvili, Kadagishvili said the businessman and former prime minister's charitable work would remain part of Georgia's legacy.
"As long as Georgia exists, as long as Georgians enter the Holy Trinity Cathedral, restored churches, theatres and universities, Bidzina Ivanishvili's good deeds will also be remembered," Kadagishvili said.
He cited the Holy Trinity Cathedral (Sameba), restored historic churches, the Rustaveli Theatre, the Tbilisi Opera and Ballet Theatre, the Marjanishvili Theatre, Tbilisi State University and Kutaisi International University as examples of institutions where, he said, Ivanishvili's contributions would continue to be reflected.
