Georgian PM: EU officials should focus on resolving Europe’s problems, not escalating tensions with US

European politicians and bureaucrats should focus on addressing the challenges facing Europe, including relations with the United States, rather than seeking to fuel conflicts, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze said.

Kobakhidze was commenting on remarks by EU Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos.

“It is very strange to see such initiatives. Europe already has its problems, and at a time when a European Commissioner is looking for grounds for conflict with the United States, this is, to put it mildly, strange,” Kobakhidze told journalists.

“It would be better for European politicians and bureaucrats to focus on resolving the problems facing Europe, including with the United States. Their entire attention should be directed towards improving relations with other countries. Instead, their attention is focused on escalating conflicts rather than resolving them, which is very unfortunate,” he said.
