Fighting corruption helped improve Georgia’s economic growth, PM

Fighting corruption and eliminating corruption at the highest levels of government has helped improve Georgia’s economic growth, Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze said on Tuesday.

Speaking at a government meeting, Kobakhidze said Georgia’s economy grew by 8% in July, while economic growth for the first seven months of 2026 reached 7.9%.

“Fighting corruption is producing results, and one of the reasons we managed to improve the economic growth rate compared with last year is precisely that we managed to eliminate corruption at the highest levels of government, and we continue fighting corruption at all levels,” Kobakhidze said.

He also attributed the positive economic performance to reforms and progress in various sectors, including logistics, transport, communications, energy and tourism.

“We have positive dynamics in all these areas. Very important changes and reforms have been implemented in various sectors related to economic development,” Kobakhidze said.
