PM Kobakhidze meets IPC president to discuss Paralympic developments in Georgia

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze met with International Paralympic Committee (IPC) President Andrew Parsons to discuss the development of the Paralympic movement in Georgia, the Government Administration said.

The meeting focused on the 2026 IBSA Judo World Championships, which Georgia is due to host and which will bring a record number of participants to the country, according to the administration. The sides also highlighted Georgia’s experience in hosting international para-sport events.

Kobakhidze stressed the importance of the IPC’s continued support and thanked Parsons for his close cooperation with the Georgian Paralympic Committee.

The discussion also covered measures taken by the Georgian government to support the development of Paralympic sport. 

The annual budget of the Georgian Paralympic Committee has increased significantly, while financial awards for Paralympic athletes have been brought into line with those provided to Olympic athletes, the government press office said.
