The international community has maintained a consistent position towards Georgia for months because the same problems continue to recur, Irakli Pavlenishvili, deputy secretary-general of the opposition United National Movement, said on Tuesday.
"For months, the policy has been consistent, and the texts of the resolutions are more or less identical because the same problems keep recurring and Ivanishvili continues to commit the same offences," Pavlenishvili said.
He said Western values and standards did not allow people to be detained on political grounds or have their rights violated.
"The position of the entire international community is what it is because the values and norms of Western countries do not include detaining people for political reasons, violating their rights or engaging in dictatorship," Pavlenishvili said.
His comments came after the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly's Committee on Democracy, Human Rights and Humanitarian Questions backed a draft resolution on Georgia.
