US Vice President JD Vance on Tuesday said “the bureaucrats in Brussels” had tried to damage the Hungarian economy and to make the country “less energy independent”.

“What has happened in this country, what has happened in the midst of this election campaign, is one of the worst examples of foreign election interference that I have ever seen or ever even read about," Vance told a news conference while visiting Hungary.

“The bureaucrats in Brussels have tried to destroy the economy of Hungary. They have tried to make Hungary less energy independent. They have tried to drive up costs for Hungarian consumers, and they have done it all because they hate this guy [Orban],” he added.

The Vice President urged voters to make decisions free from outside pressure.

“You should not listen to Brussels bureaucrats. Listen to your hearts, listen to your souls and listen to the sovereignty of the Hungarian people,” he said.
