UK, Italian prime ministers confirm participation in Washington meeting on Ukraine

UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni have confirmed their participation in the upcoming high-level meeting in Washington between US President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

According to the British Prime Minister’s Office, Starmer is prepared to support the next phase of negotiations at the White House and will reaffirm that the UK’s backing for Ukraine will continue “for as long as necessary.”

Trump invited Zelenskyy to Washington following his talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska. The White House meeting will also be attended by the leaders of France, Germany, and Finland, as well as the President of the European Commission and the NATO Secretary General.
