Georgian ruling party MP backs appointment of Mamuka Mdinaradze to new regional policy post

Georgian ruling party lawmaker Levan Machavariani welcomed the appointment of Mamuka Mdinaradze to a newly created government post overseeing regional policy, saying the move would improve decision-making and administrative efficiency in the regions.

Speaking on Thursday, Machavariani said the new position was intended to address governance challenges, including delays in decision-making and bureaucratic processes at the regional level.

He said Mdinaradze's management style and experience made him well suited for the role.

"There is no need for extensive comment on Mamuka Mdinaradze's capabilities. We all know what he is capable of and how he works," Machavariani said.

He added that some officials had been reluctant to take responsibility for decisions, slowing the functioning of the government's administrative structure, and argued that Mdinaradze would help streamline regional governance.

Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze announced that the government would establish the position of State Minister for Regional Policy, with Mdinaradze set to assume the post.
