Head of the Georgian Government Administration Levan Zhorzholiani on Wednesday claimed the newly launched consumer information platform eKalata.gov.ge will provide citizens with comprehensive information on the best available prices for essential goods while also encouraging greater competition among retailers.
Speaking about the initiative, Zhorzholiani stressed the platform's role in improving price transparency for consumers.
“It is important that consumers will have complete information about the best consumer prices. At the same time, the platform will encourage competition among the 12 participating retail chains. These networks will be required to publish their best prices on the portal,” he said.
According to Zhorzholiani, Georgia’s fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) sector was valued at approximately GEL 14 billion in 2025, while organized retail accounted for 64% of the market.
Given the scale of the sector, he said the platform could become an important tool for consumers and contribute to more informed purchasing decisions.
