‘Maduro captured and flown out of country’ – Trump confirms ‘successful operation’ against Venezuela

US President Donald Trump has confirmed that the United States carried out what he described as a successful large-scale operation against Venezuela, claiming that President Nicolás Maduro and his wife were detained and removed from the country.

In a post on social media, Trump said the operation targeted both Venezuela and its leader.

“The United States of America has successfully carried out a large-scale strike against Venezuela and its leader, President Nicolás Maduro, who has been, along with his wife, captured and flown out of the country,” he said.

According to Trump, the operation was carried out in coordination with US law enforcement agencies, adding that further details would be released later. He also announced that he would hold a press conference later today at Mar-a-Lago to discuss the operation.

Earlier today the United States launched a series of strikes on Venezuela’s capital, Caracas, with explosions reported across the city. Following the attacks, President Maduro declared a state of war in the country.
