Mikheil Kavelashvili Expresses Condolences Over Deaths of Newborns in Islamabad Hospital Fire

Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili has expressed his condolences following the deaths of newborn babies in a fire at a government hospital in Islamabad, Pakistan.

“I am deeply saddened by the tragic loss of newborn lives in the fire at a government hospital in Islamabad. On behalf of Georgia, I extend my heartfelt condolences and deepest sympathies to the families of the victims and to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan during this difficult time,” Kavelashvili wrote on social media.

On August 26, a fire broke out in the neonatal unit of the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) in Islamabad, killing 14 infants.

An investigation into the incident has been launched.
