Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili has said Georgia will achieve a united, peaceful and strong state through unity, strategic patience, wisdom and hard work.
Speaking at an event marking Didgoroba, the annual commemoration of the Battle of Didgori, Kavelashvili described the 1121 battle as a defining expression of Georgia's national dignity, military spirit and state strength.
He said the historic victory on August 12, 1121 was not a chance for military success but the result of long-term preparation, strategic planning, discipline and state thinking.
"Through our unity, strategic patience, wisdom and hard work, our homeland will certainly reach its own Didgori - a united, peaceful and strong Georgia," Kavelashvili said.
He said the significance of Didgori also lay in overcoming a nation's own weaknesses and character flaws, describing the battle as an example of how a state should conduct its politics and public life in order to achieve historic victories.
Kavelashvili paid tribute to the memory of King David IV, known as David the Builder, and the heroes who fought in the Battle of Didgori.
