President Kavelashvili: Shuamtoba Reflects the Character, Culture and Values of the Georgian People

Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili said the traditional Shuamtoba festival embodies the character, culture and values that have preserved Georgia’s national identity for centuries.
“Shuamtoba is a celebration where the character of the Georgian people, our culture and the values that have safeguarded our national identity throughout the centuries are clearly reflected,” Kavelashvili said at the festival in Beshumi.
The President attended the celebrations alongside Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze, the Chairman of the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara, and representatives of the legislative and executive branches.
In his address, Kavelashvili described traditional festivals such as Shuamtoba as an important part of Georgia’s culture, folklore and national identity.
He noted that the festival brings together different generations and gives young people an opportunity to learn more about the country’s cultural heritage and traditions.
Kavelashvili also expressed gratitude to previous generations and elders for preserving the tradition, stressing that safeguarding national customs and passing them on to future generations provides a strong foundation for the country’s cultural development.
According to the President, celebrations such as Shuamtoba strengthen social unity and historical memory while helping preserve Georgia’s national identity.
