Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili has held a farewell meeting with Chinese Ambassador Zhou Qian as the diplomat concludes his mission in Georgia.
The President’s press service on Thursday said the two sides praised the development of Georgia-China relations during Zhou’s tenure, including the establishment of a comprehensive strategic partnership.
The meeting also reviewed the practical outcomes of closer bilateral ties, including the introduction of a mutual visa-free regime, the restoration and expansion of direct air links, enhanced cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative, progress in free trade and an agreement on the mutual recognition of higher education diplomas.
Kavelashvili and Zhou also discussed future areas of cooperation, focusing on strengthening links between scientific and research institutions, expanding cooperation in the technology sector and maintaining high-level political dialogue.
The President thanked Ambassador Zhou for his diplomatic service in Georgia and wished him success in his future career.
