Georgian President Kavelashvili to pay official visit to Armenia

Georgia’s President Mikheil Kavelashvili is set to arrive in Yerevan today for an official visit, where he will hold a series of high-level meetings “aimed at strengthening ties between the two neighbouring countries”, the President’s press office said.

Kavelashvili will be welcomed at Zvartnots International Airport by Armenia’s Deputy Prime Minister, Tigran Khachaturian, according to the Georgian presidential press service.

During his visit, President Kavelashvili will meet his Armenian counterpart, Vahagn Khachaturian, at the presidential palace. The two leaders are expected to hold face-to-face talks followed by an expanded meeting involving their delegations. Joint statements to the media will follow the discussions.

The Georgian President is also scheduled to meet with Armenia’s Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and the head of the Armenian Apostolic Church, Catholicos Garegin II.

President Kavelashvili is accompanied by a delegation that includes
the Head of the Presidential Administration Ketevan Kvinikadze, Deputy Foreign Minister Lasha Darsalia, First Deputy Chairman of the Georgian Parliament Giorgi Volski, MPs Samvel Manukian and Sumbat Kyureghiani, and Presidential Advisor on Foreign Relations Luka Ekhvaia.
