A Moscow court has sentenced Russian journalist Darya Shipacheva to 12 years in prison after convicting her of high treason. The court also imposed a 300,000-ruble ($3,757) fine.
Shipacheva will serve her sentence in a general-regime penal colony.
According to media reports, the charges are linked to the alleged transfer of money to Ukraine. However, further details of the case remain unknown, as the trial was held behind closed doors.
Shipacheva has previously worked for Forbes, Lenta.ru and Reminder, where she primarily covered medical and scientific topics.
