Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda has voiced concerns over Georgia’s democratic trajectory, warning of potential parallels with Belarus. Writing on the social platform X, Nausėda stated, “Georgia is at risk of repeating the Belarusian scenario.”

The Lithuanian President expressed unwavering support for the European Parliament’s resolution advocating for democratic elections in Georgia, emphasizing Lithuania’s commitment to the Georgian people’s aspirations for EU integration.

He further criticized the suspension of EU accession negotiations, noting that it contradicts the will of the Georgian populace and benefits Russia. “Suspending the EU accession negotiations goes against their will and is grist for the mill of Russia,” Nausėda asserted.

The remarks come amid heightened scrutiny of Georgia’s political landscape and its alignment with European democratic principles.
