Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said there is “no immunity” for Israel’s enemies, following an Israeli strike in Beirut that reportedly killed a senior commander of Hezbollah’s Radwan Force.

Netanyahu added that Israeli forces carried out an operation in the southern suburbs of Beirut targeting a commander who had allegedly continued coordinating attacks against Israeli troops and civilians.

“He thought he could continue coordinating attacks against our forces and our population from a secret headquarters in Beirut. Perhaps he read in the press that he had immunity in Beirut, but that is no longer true,” Netanyahu said.

The Israeli PM added that over the past month Israel had killed more than 200 Hezbollah members whom he accused of attacking Israeli civilians and military personnel.

“We are doing the same in Gaza, eliminating terrorists. I want to state clearly: no terrorist has immunity. Whoever threatens the State of Israel will pay the price,” Netanyahu said.

According to Israeli officials, the strike in Beirut killed Ahmad Ghaleb Balout, identified as a commander within Hezbollah’s Radwan Force.

The attack marked Israel’s first strike on Beirut since the announcement of a ceasefire agreement with Lebanon.
