The mother of Temо Khaduri, a 23-year-old man whose body was found in suspicious circumstances in 2024, has staged a protest outside the Western Georgia District Prosecutor's Office in Kutaisi, demanding that all those responsible for her son's death be held accountable.
Family members and friends of Khaduri joined the protest. His mother, Nino Gvishiani, accused authorities of failing to establish the circumstances and cause of her son's death and called for a renewed investigation.
"My last reserves of patience were tested and they brought me to this point," Gvishiani said, addressing the government and the Prosecutor's Office.
She questioned the findings of the forensic examination, alleging that her son had suffered injuries before being placed in water and that decomposition had prevented experts from determining the precise cause and timing of his death.
Gvishiani also called for police officers she believes were responsible to be punished, saying that two officers had already been removed from the case, according to her understanding.
The family has rejected the official account that Khaduri drowned in a river channel and is demanding a new investigation into his death.
Khaduri disappeared on 25 August 2024. After a four-day search, his body was found near the village of Simoneti. His family is calling for those responsible to be identified and prosecuted.
